Fix the process before you automate it.

Automating a broken process makes it fail faster. Before recommending any tool, we follow the work end to end with the people who do it: every step, handover, workaround and spreadsheet. Most of the delay usually sits in a few places, often where work passes between teams or between systems that do not share data.

Once the process is simpler, the question of automation gets easier. Some steps suit robotic process automation, which repeats rule-based tasks across systems the way a person would. Some suit an integration between two systems. Some are better left to people, because they need judgement.

Three ways to fix a slow process

Each has a place. The right one depends on the volume, the rules and how often the step changes.

Redesign it Steps that exist because of history rather than need, or handovers that can be removed. Changes to how people work need time and support to stick.
Integrate the systems Data that is copied between two systems by hand, at volume. Both systems need a reliable way to exchange data, and someone has to own the connection.
Automate it High-volume, rule-based work using structured data. Automation breaks when the screens or rules it depends on change, so it needs monitoring.

Operations and process FAQs

What is robotic process automation?

Software that carries out repetitive, rule-based tasks across systems the way a person would, such as copying data between them or processing standard forms.

Which processes are worth automating?

Processes that are high in volume, follow clear rules and use structured data. We assess each one before recommending it.

Will automation replace our staff?

It usually removes repetitive tasks so people can spend their time on work that needs judgement. We plan the change with your teams.

Can you build what you recommend?

Yes. Realm's software team can build the integrations and automation the new process needs.
