MyMobile Builds a Shopify Store, Then Extends It Into FNB’s eBucks Platform

MyMobile has built its business on closing South Africa’s technology access gap. Flagship smartphones sit alongside pre-owned devices and imports you won’t easily find on another South African shelf, sold through flexible contracts and device bundles. Partnerships with leading brands and financial services have helped build a reputation for value, reliability and accessibility. MyMobile wanted an online store that could carry that same range and give customers the same confidence in fulfilment and returns.

Realm Digital came in to design and build a Shopify store around that catalogue. By the time it launched, MyMobile’s products were also available to buy through FNB’s eBucks platform. That put them in front of millions of reward-earning customers who might never have found the brand otherwise.

A Store Built to Match the Catalogue

Realm designed a Shopify store that could hold MyMobile’s diverse range together. A shopper comparing a flagship phone needs the same confidence buying a pre-owned device, or an import found nowhere else in the country. That means consistent, high-quality product data and imagery across every listing, whatever its condition or origin.

A mobile-first design and reworked product taxonomy make browsing easier, since mobile is increasingly how South African shoppers browse and buy. Logistics and reverse logistics were integrated too, so fulfilment and returns work the same way regardless of what a customer buys.

A Second Channel Through FNB’s eBucks Platform

Realm extended the build into FNB’s eBucks Partner App, connecting MyMobile’s new store to a system built by one of the country’s biggest banks. Work on the API integration had actually run alongside the website build from the start, so both pieces could launch together. Connecting securely to a major bank’s platform meant clearing real compliance and authentication requirements, without breaking the consistency of the customer journey across both channels. An FNB customer browsing the eBucks app can now buy a MyMobile phone just like anything else on the platform. They earn or spend eBucks on the purchase in the same way. Returns and refunds are handled across both systems, too.

Between the two, MyMobile now reaches millions of reward-earning FNB customers on top of its own store traffic. Both are served through one consistent catalogue and fulfilment process. Realm’s role went beyond development too, bringing design leadership, solution architecture and compliance expertise to a project spanning two platforms.

For a business built on closing South Africa’s technology access gap, that reach matters. MyMobile now has the tools to keep innovating and scale with confidence, whether that means expanding its catalogue further or deepening the eBucks relationship.
