Daily online newspaper, Daily Maverick, tasked Realm Digital to redevelop their website.
Realm Digital’s long-standing client, Daily Maverick, required the development of their new website. The project demanded a complete rethink of how their users engage with news and information online. The main challenge was ensuring the website performed optimally, while catering to the needs of over a million monthly readers. Realm was able to assist in bringing the Daily Maverick vision to life through the implementation of additional functionality.
The website redesign was focused on meeting the needs of Daily Maverick readers. User profiles were added, which include a dedicated preference centre. This functionality allows users to follow their favourite authors, edit newsletter alert preferences and find saved articles.
The unique nature of each user profile meant countless scenarios and requests could be sent to the server at the same time. Extensive testing and optimization were required to ensure the website maintained performance despite the added complexity.
Since the Daily Mavericks’s new website relaunch, over 2000 readers have registered user profiles. As such they have been able to tailor their experience by following their favourite authors, changing alerts and saving articles. This project has not only improved the user experience but also brought Daily Maverick’s vision to life.
Here’s what Daily Maverick had to say
Realm Digital worked religiously with our team to bring the new Daily Maverick site to life – despite working on a tight budget and the huge scope that a news site entails. They worked closely with us in all aspects of the project and their input and commitment helped shape the final product that we are extremely proud of.
